A Day at the Farm!

The Kangaroos and Giraffes went back for our Second Annual Trip to Baan Thani Rice Farm! It was such an awesome day, and everyone had so much fun! The students learned about traditional rice farming methods, and got to try out farming themselves. There was a boat ride and a tractor ride, they got to make rice milk, coconut milk, and sugar cane juice. There were trees to climb, rope bridges to cross, and a water buffalo to ride. We got a delicious lunch of fried chicken and sticky rice, and later on a  snack of homemade fried bananas and shaved ice! And let’s not forget everyone’s favorite part: the mud pit! Everyone had the opportunity to get as messy and dirty as they possible could as we slid down mudslides, threw coconuts to make huge splashes, and had the best mudfight ever! Thanks to the Thani family for letting us visit!

January 30 Information, 9:10am

Hello everyone! As you may have heard, the protesters will be marching down Sukhumvit from On Nut to Asok today. School hours are running as usual. We cannot foresee what the situation will be in the afternoon, especially regarding bus service. We will let everyone know, on the website, facebook, and via SMS, by 1:30pm if there will be afternoon bus service, for regular school buses and after school buses. Finally, any parents with children in after school soccer: the students will not be going to Arena 10 today. They will have soccer at school. If your child rides the after school bus normally, they will go on the bus today if we are able to provide service. If you normally pick up your child from after school activities, please be at school at 3:30pm.

Thank you again for your understanding and cooperation during this time. Please make sure you are near your phone or have internet access at 1:30pm to receive information regarding bus service.

G’day, mate!

On Monday Inter Section celebrated Australia Day! We had so much fun celebrating this awesome country. First, we had some fancy hats so we looked so great during our horse races. The horse races were very suspenseful, but everyone ran so fast and we cheered and cheered! Last week, all the students made some amazing sailboats, and today they had the chance to race them! After all that work, everyone loved our delicious lunch of beef sammies, veggie and fruit salads, and fairy bread! What a day!

A Very Filipino Christmas

For our last day of term this year, we celebrated Christmas Filipino style! Because the Philippines have one of the most famous boxers in the world, we started off with a bit of boxing practice. The kids really loved taping up their hands like the pros! Then, we had an amazing potluck with everyone, and the star of the meal was Teacher Zaike’s own spaghetti recipe. It was so much fun! Merry Filipino Christmas!

Rabbits at Benjakitti

The Rabbits had a day in the sun last week when they went biking at Benjakitti Park. They had so much fun that they decided to stay a little bit longer and have a picnic there, too! It was hard work biking around the lake, but when the reward is a delicious lunch with mom, then it’s totally worth it!

Bluebirds at Benjakitti

The Bluebirds went to Benjakitti Park last week, to have a run and a nice bike ride around the lake. It was hot, but it was so great to be able to have more space and to go as fast as we can! The lake set up a lovely backdrop for our run, as well. We were a little bit tired

out, but it was worth it!

School Show Information

Hi Parents! As you know, school show is fast approaching. I hope you have all recieved and read through the letter that was sent home on Tuesday, November 19. I know it was long, and I appreciate you taking the time to understand all the information presented in it. The best way to have a great school show day is for everyone to understand this information and to cooperate on the day of the show. I’d like to remind everyone how the parent set-up will work on this day.

Parents will stand on the PE area or in a roped-off area in front of Inter Section.. The parents who have children performing will rotate through a “VIP Section.” Each class will be assigned a color, and parents will be given a small card with this color on it. This card will be your entry to the VIP Section. This section will be in front of all the other parents, and will be reserved only for those parents who have children currently performing. For example, if you have a Giraffe student, you will not be able to be in this area during the Hiyoko performance. Only one family member for each student will be allowed in the VIP Section. Other family  members will still be able to see the performance from outside the VIP Section; they are just not guaranteed a front-row seat. There will be members of staff at each end of this section to control the flow of parents. When your child’s performance is over, you will be led to the parking lot to collect your child. You are welcome to come back into school and watch the rest of the show, but please remember that you will be responsible for watching your child. If you have more than one child, you will be given a color card for each child’s performance. Many classes have multiple performances, for example, a song that relates to our theme, a class poem, and then a mixed-class song. You may use the same color card for all these performances. Please listen to all announcements during the program to ensure that you are prepared when it is your child’s turn. We are doing this to allow all parents to have the opportunity to sit front row for their child’s performance, and to get as many good pictures as they would like. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please note: there is one support pole in the middle of this section, but we will arrange the seating so that it will not be blocking anyone’s view. Remember also that the teachers, especially for the younger classes, stand or kneel in front of the performance to guide the children.

Please ask any questions you might have. All the homeroom teachers, the office staff, Teacher Gillian and myself are capable of explaining anything you might not understand. We think it will be a great day, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Cheers! Teacher Chelsea
